William performed two concerts this past weekend on March 5th and 6th in support of the 2016 Grand County Concert Series in Tabernash, Colorado. The first was a “Classical Pops & Pizza” free community concert designed especially for young people. And by any measure, the concert proved to be a resounding success. William played for a full house that included as many adults as it did children, opening with a movie medley to engage the audience and emphasize that many modern-day composers like John Williams use classical form in the movie scores that everyone enjoys today. One could actually argue that if you like many modern-day movie scores, you like classical music! William continued the concert by introducing some classic pieces from Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms, Rachmaninoff, and many others.
“We are thrilled to offer our first free community concert with a young artist, performing for young people,” – Judy Baxter, President of the Concert Series
The second concert was a private “Soiree” recital for Grand County Concert season ticket subscribers. This concert was more traditional, as William introduced groups of pieces and spoke about important compositional and musical elements in each work. As with many of his performances, William strove to provide musical and historical context necessary for the audience to find meaning and joy in each genre.
“I am so thankful to the Grand County Concert Series for allowing me to share my passion for classical music and performance with such a receptive and generous community. I hope to be able to return again in the near future!” – William Hume
